Our 1983 first grade side

Hawkesbury City Soccer Club was formed in 1975, as the then called Hawkesbury District Soccer Club, with the aim of providing the best level of football to the Hawkesbury region.

​

The club has progressed significantly since 1975 and today fields senior sides in the NSW Premier League 3 competition, which is the third tier of Men’s Football in NSW, following the NSW Premier League 1 and NSW Premier League 2 respectively.

A brief time-line of the club's history is as follows;

​

1966

  • Club formed playing in Nepean Association Competitions

​

1975

  • Club formed to enter Federation football with the aim of providing the best level of soccer to the Hawkesbury area.
     

1981

  • Incorporated as Hawkesbury District Soccer Club.

 

1983

  • Hawkesbury win the Third Division, it's first ever competition win, and also defeats Macarthur in the grand final.

 

1984

  • Semi finalists v.s. Macarthur.

 

1985

  • Grand finalists v.s. Petersham.

 

1986

  • Grand finalist v.s. Dulwich Hill.

  • From this point on the club has competed in the Third and Fourth Division State League Competitions depending on the structure decided upon by the NSW Federation.

1987

  • Divisions re-structured, club competing in Division 4 State League

 

1993

  • Equal first with Greystanes - lost promotion play off.

 

1994

  • Won Third Division promotion play off with Fraser Park.

 

1995

  • Hawkesbury enter Youth League teams.

 

1996

  • U/13's Youth League Grand Finalists v.s. Penrith United.

 

1997

  • Hawkesbury obtain use of undeveloped land at Bensons Lane.

  • Games are not played this year but a section is turfed in preparation.

  • No facilities are available at all (including power and water) on the site.

  • Training moved to Richmond Park as this ground has lights / grandstand and better facilities.

  • Construction of the amenities block and field commence.

 

1998

  • Divisions restructured by Federation.

  • Bensons Lane Complex used by senior and junior teams.

  • Complex is fenced.

  • Field is fenced and reserve dugouts completed.

 

1999

  • Men's Teams in Division 3 State League.

  • Hawkesbury enter Cadet League Competition (U/11 & U/12) to complement Youth League.

 

2000

  • Semi finalist in Division 3 reserve grade v.s. Roosters.

  • Semi finalist U/14 youth league.

  • Construction of a 300 seat grandstand commences ready for 2001 season.

  • Second field completed.

 

2001

  • Grand finalist U/15 youth league v.s. Mt Druitt.

  • Funding is available for lighting for installation for 2002 season to allow full use of Bensons Lane as a dedicated Football facility.

 

2002

  • Grand finalist Division 3 reserve grade

 

2003

  • Promotion of the senior teams to Division Two for the 2003 season with teams to be fielded in the U/19, U/21 and 1st grade competitions.

  • U21 semi finalists, U19 finish 5th, U17 finalists.

  • Football Federation restructures youth league and Hawkesbury are denied entry into 2004 Youth League Competition due to the senior men's side competing in State League Division Two and not Division One.

 

2004

  • Hawkesbury enter Women's State League teams

  • Mens U/21s semi finalists v.s. University of NSW.

  • 1st Grade finish 5th.

 

2005

  • Hawkesbury apply to enter Mens NSW State League Division Three

  • Football Federation restructures Women's State League Competition and Hawkesbury are denied entry into 2005 competition as new criteria requires junior girls teams.

  • Lady Hawks join Colo and enter team in the Nepean All Age competition.

  • Mens 1st Grade finish 2nd and are defeated 2-0 by Gladesville Utd in grand final.

  • Mens Reserve Grade Finish 2nd and win grand final 5-2 over Gladesville.

  • Colo Hawks finish 2nd and are defeated in 2-1 grand final by Cranebrook.

 

2006

  • Mens 1st Grade Finish 2nd and are defeated by Colo Colo 3-2 in Preliminary Final.

  • Mens Reserve Grade Finish 4th and are defeated 4-0 by a 1st grade Packed Roosters FC.

  • Colo Hawkes Lose 1-0 in Grand Final.

2007

  • Reserve Grade win Grand Final v.s Gladesville.

​

2008

  • Competing in Division 3 competitions 1st Grade and Reserve Grade.

 

2009

  • FNSW Re-Structure Divisions - Hawkesbury Competing In Northern Conference

  • League ( previously called Division 3 State League )

2010

  • Competing in Northern Conference League

​

2008

  • Hawkesbury promoted to the Division 2 competition.

 

2011

  • First Grade 6th, Reserve Grade Win Grand Final

2012

  • First Grade 3rd, Reserve Grade Premiers
     

2013

  • FNSW Re- Structure after 2012 Competitions Review - Hawkesbury promoted to Division 1 fielding First Grade, U20’s & U18’s. With the U18’s semi-finalists.

2014

  • Bensons Lane Field Re-name David Bertenshaw field.

  • Hawkesbury Competing in First Grade, Under 20’s, Under 18's and Under 16’s as well as  part time Regional League - U/12, U/13, U/14 & U/15.

 

2015

  • Hawkesbury Competing in Division 1 State League - First Grade, Under 20’s, Under 18's and Under 16’s as well as full time Regional League - U/12, U/13, U/14 & U/15.

 

2016

  • FNSW Re-Structure Divisions after 2015 Competitions Review

  • Hawkesbury competing in National Premier League 3 (NPL3),
    First Grade, Under 20’s & Under 18’s

  • Regional League re-named NPL2  Youth League – U/13, U/14, U/15 & U/16

  • Hawkesbury awarded a Skill Application Program ( SAP ) Licence for Under 9, Under 10, Under 11,& Under 12’s.
